In November, the Club took a guided tour of the Lactário Museum, founded in 1901 by Colonel Rodrigo António Aboim Ascenção with the aim of improving the living conditions of children in Alfama, where there was a population with obvious food shortages and poor housing conditions. The Foundation, which focused on supporting early childhood, distributed quality milk free of charge on a daily basis and also provided pediatric care to all children.
Visits were also made to the Odivelas Monastery and the Aljube Museum. The Odivelas Monastery has Manueline, Baroque and Neoclassical features, as well as Gothic elements from the original building in 1295. King Dinis is buried here at his express wish.
The Aljube Museum, housed in the former political prison, preserves the memory of the fight against dictatorship, oppression and the struggle for freedom and democracy, as well as the colonial war and the subsequent independence of the peoples of the former colonies.
