Once again, the Club celebrated Women’s Day with a tea party at the Avenida Palace Hotel. Our guest this year was the illustrious architect Helena Roseta, who gave us an exceptional text on the various ‘times’ in our lives.

After the holiday period, the Club began its activities on 9 October with a presentation on ‘Constance Smedley – Life and Work’, followed by a tea party at the Naval Military Club.

On 14 March, a general meeting, followed by refreshments, was held at the Orient Museum. The International President of the BCI, Muriel Hannart, was present. The purpose of the meeting was to analyse, discuss and approve the 2023 Accounts and to elect the new Board for the 2024/2026 period. On 8 March, an International Women’s Day tea party was held at the Avenida Palace Hotel. We had the presence of Ambassador Maria Otília Medina, who spoke to us about her personal and professional life. She also expressed her thoughts on the significance of commemorating this date.

February began with a debate at CMN on the book ‘The Years’, by writer Annie Ernaux, followed by tea. This writer, born in 1940, was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2022, becoming the first French woman to receive this distinction.

A tea party was held at the CMN with Prof. Eduarda Pires, who gave an interesting dissertation on “Painting as seen by Women”.
