In early March, the Club organised a visit to the National Music Museum at Mafra Palace, which houses a fascinating collection of classical and folk instruments from Europe, as well as from Asia, Africa and the Americas.
In the morning, the group took a short stroll around Ericeira before lunch, followed by a visit to the museum.

Once inside the museum, the tour was led by Cristina Aleixo, an excellent guide with a deep knowledge of the musical instruments on display, who treated us at the end to a musical demonstration that allowed us to distinguish between the intensity of the sound produced by the harpsichord – played with the fingers and without pedals, producing a sustained sound like a guitar – and that of the piano, which is struck, allowing for both loud and soft sounds.
